AIKIDO: Ushiro Ryokatadori, Part 3 (Sankyo) Move BIG!

Do you sometimes mistake which hand to use when executing Sankyo ushiro ryokatadori?

Today’s video is another in my New Year’s seminar series that took place in Los Angeles last month.

In this video, we continue the theme of centering, grounding, and expansion that we were working on in the last two videos with ushiro ryokatadori kokyunage. But today, we continue the movement by finishing with sankyo. It compliments last week’s video very nicely because nage uses the opposite hand than they used for kotegaeshi in last week’s video.

Like in last week’s video, I stress to the seminar participants to not only move forward from their center, but also point out which hand lends itself nicely to grasping uke’s hand for sankyo.

I hope today’s video will give you some insight, inspiration, and motivation to help you make the most of the new year and realize your Aikido goals in 2023.
