How to Solve Ushiro Ryokatadori Challenges: Aikido Kokyunage Training from Summer Camp

In this special session from my 5-Day Aikido Summer Camp in Los Angeles, we tackle one of the most common problems in ushiro ryokatadori: what to do when uke doesn’t fully come around. I share a progressive drill that allows nage to explore how to use gravity, body weight, and center-lowering to neutralize resistance and execute kokyunage effectively. The principles discussed here are also directly applicable to ikkyo and kotegaeshi, which we’ll cover in the upcoming videos.

Whether you're an instructor looking for new teaching drills or a practitioner refining your technique, this training will deepen your understanding and elevate your Aikido.
