VIDEO: Aikido Zanshin - Mindfulness in Martial Arts

Have you heard people say that Aikido is a form of “moving meditation”? Or maybe you yourself have said that?

Today’s video is another from our New Year’s seminar in Los Angeles a couple months ago.

A running theme throughout the 3-day seminar was “zanshin”, which I translate roughly as “sustained mindfulness.” I encouraged participants to practice Zanshin a number of times throughout the seminar.

Today’s video shows it in the context of kokyunage.
