Keeping Current
After a seminar with me, many people ask what's the best way to continue practicing the concepts and principles I introduced to them during the seminar. Of course, training with me in person is best, but if you live too far away, then live, online training is the next best thing.
Community
Take advantage of the global community of Aikido-ka in my online community. Ask for advice, help out a fellow Aikido-ka having challenges, or just start a conversation to say hello. The online community is open to you 24/7.
What we'll cover:
- Guiding my students to help them build a foundation: As a remote participant, you'll get to see how I teach my students on a day-to-day basis, as opposed to how I teach when I'm teaching at a seminar.
- Physical preservation: When I teach, I look for harmful patterns of movement in my students' Aikido and help them work to undo them, in order to avoid injury and preserve their body.
- Improved technique: I'm always looking to identify points in movement that may be making technique ineffective.
- The 3 Lines of Equilibrium to be maintained throughout all techniques
- The 3 Basic Turning Styles in Aikido and how to execute them without putting strain on your joints
- The 3 Basic Footwork Patterns that most Aikido techniques are built off of
- Integrating Shoto and Other Weapons: Depending on the theme of the class and the skill level of those in attendance, I may sometimes integrate shoto or other weapons to help students improve their spacial awareness, this improving their empty hand technique.
